NONSMOOTH/NONCONVEX MECHANICS

WITH APPLICATIONS IN ENGINEERING

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

7 & 8 July, 2006

Recent developments in applied mathematical modeling, analysis and optimization allow us analyze models without restrictive assumptions, like differentiability of convexity. This activity is gradually influencing other areas of scientific research and computational technology. The case of Nonsmooth/Nonconvex Mechanics and its interaction with modern computational contact mechanics is a typical example.

After the success of the first "International Conference on Nonsmooth/Nonconvex Mechanics with Applications to Engineering" organized on 2002 in Thessaloniki, the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki organizes the Second International Conference on NONSMOOTH/NONCONVEX MECHANICS WITH APPLICATIONS IN ENGINEERING to be held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), Thessaloniki, Greece, July 7&8, 2006. The Conference is aiming at the presentation of original high level unpublished research works in the various areas of Nonsmooth Mechanics with emphasis on engineering applications.

The International Conference will provide a forum for the presentation of recent developments in the scientific area of nonsmooth and nonconvex mechanics and the discussion of innovative applications on structural analysis and design.
