The Lab of Planning and Project Management at the Department of Civil Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and EGNATIA ODOS SA have successfully organized a training school on bridge quality control in the context of COST Action TU1406.

The objective of the COST TU1406 Training School-Thessaloniki was to spread the latest knowledge and development acquired by the Action in the topic of performance-based assessment and quality control of existing concrete road bridges. The Training School aimed at highlighting the most recent knowledge on performance bridge assessment procedures with the adoption of specific goals and, also at: (i) validating the proposed framework with a set of inspectors with experience from bridge assessment in practice and (ii) developing some exchange of knowledge between participants.
Thirteen (13) trainees from equal number of European countries and five (5) trainers (Prof. Rade Hajdin from IM Consultants/University of Belgrade, Serbia, Mr. Amir Kedar from Kedmor Engineers Ltd, Israel, Dr. Panagiotis Panetsos from EGNATIA ODOS SA, Greece, Prof. Costas Papadimitriou from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Thessaly, Greece, and Assoc. Prof. Yiannis Xenidis from the Department of Civil Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece) participated in the Training School that included lectures, project-based learning through a case study and a full day of bridge inspection and monitoring on the site in two bridges of the Egnatia Highway.
The evaluation of the Training School from the trainees confirmed the excellent organization and the importance and quality of the School’s content in terms of knowledge and experience gained. The Training School’s outputs will be available in the form of an e-book that will be soon published and become accessible through the Action’s website: https://www.tu1406.eu/training/thessaloniki.
